WHO WE ARE
Step into the world of Gruhapriya where every sweet tells a story
More Than Just Sweets, It’s Tradition

The Sweet Taste of Tradition
In 1991, in a quiet coastal city called Visakhapatnam, affectionately known as Vizag, on the eastern shores of India, a small shop opened its doors. The city was not bustling & busy back then. It was simpler, slower, and deeply rooted in culture. People lived close to their families, shared meals on banana leaves, and celebrated festivals with food lovingly made at home. This is where Gruhapriya was born.

From a Small Corner to Countless Homes
At 9:15 AM on July 9th, 1991, we opened our first store, not in a big commercial space, but in a quiet bylane. We didn’t have much, but we had something special: recipes passed down from our grandmothers, made with patience and soul. In a time when making traditional Andhra sweets and snacks at home was becoming rare, Gruhapriya stepped in, not just as a business, but as a guardian of disappearing kitchen traditions. Our shelves were filled with handmade laddus, spicy mixtures, tangy pickles, and aromatic spice powders, the kind that reminded people of home, festivals, and childhood.
Embracing India’s Diversity, One Sweet at a Time
As the years rolled on, we watched Vizag transform. Welcoming people, languages, and traditions from across the country. With every new face came a new flavour, and at Gruhapriya, we embraced them all with open arms. While our heart beats for Andhra classics, we began lovingly adding treasures from other regions too. These weren’t just additions to our menu; they were invitations to celebrate India’s incredible culinary soul. And because no Indian sweet is complete without the richness of dry fruits, our shelves soon gleamed with Kaju Katli, Badam Burfi, and other nutty delights, crafted with the same care and tradition as everything we’ve always made. At Gruhapriya, we believe India’s strength lies in its flavours; each one unique, yet beautifully connected. So whether you’re from the East or West, North or South, you’ll find a piece of your story here.

What Hasn’t Changed
Decades have gone by, but at Gruhapriya, we still believe in the old way of doing things:
- No artificial ingredients
- No added flavor
- No flavor enhancers
- No artificial sweeteners
- No shortcuts
- Only made from the purest chestnut oil, ghee, and handpicked ingredients
Whether it’s a festive celebration or a craving for something that tastes like your childhood, Gruhapriya is here, to serve not just food, but feeling.
